Eat Fit Go: My Perfect Day

Sharing is caring!

The number one thing I hear from patients, clients, and many of my followers is that you “want to eat healthy, but…” — fill in the blank. Your “but” may be lack of time to grocery shop/cook/prep, lack of cooking skills, lack of financial resources, being a picky eater or having a picky family; the list of reasons (and sometimes excuses) goes on and on.

First and foremost, I want to point out that I truly believe we make time for the things that are important to us. At least that’s the case for me. Eating healthy, homemade meals and exercising are just a few of my top priorities, which is why they happen more often than not. But trust me when I say that I’m not perfect and some weeks are much better than others.

Ideally we would all cook healthy meals and eat at home for every eating occasion, but unfortunately, life tends to get in the way. A lot. We get busy (and lazy), unexpected things happen, and sometimes we are forced to make impulse decisions as far as what we are going to eat for our next meal.

For a lot of people that results in running through the McDonald’s or Taco Bell drive-thru and making not-so-healthy choices. Then comes that overwhelming feeling of guilt and shame for those who are trying to stick to a “diet” of some sort. Although it shouldn’t lead to guilt – we are only human and our food choices do not define us – I know that feeling is common.

It may seem like I eat perfectly healthy all the time on my Instagram, but I do my very best to show you guys that that is not always the case. I definitely have a mostly healthy diet, but I also enjoy taking a break and treating myself, too. Ethan and I go out to eat a couple times a week, usually on the weekends. I typically still try to stick with healthier items when I’m eating out, like entrees with grilled chicken or salmon, and veggies or salad of some sort. That is simply because 1) I actually do enjoy eating healthy foods, and 2) my stomach gets mad at me if I stray too far from the norm. But I can promise you that I will also be reaching over onto Ethan’s plate and eating half of his French fries (much to his dismay). LOL.

With all of that being said, I am thankful to have several places here in Kansas City where I can grab healthy food quickly when I’m having one of those days and planning ahead isn’t really an option.

Today I want to talk specifically about a place called Eat Fit Go. Have you heard of it? If not, WHERE HAVE YA BEEN? Their goal is to provide healthy and delicious meals for people on-the-go. They have a variety of lean proteins, whole grains and lots of veggies incorporated into all of the meals that they offer. They have everything from breakfast, lunch, dinner, salads, and snacks. Eat Fit Go is such a great alternative to fast food. It’s just as fast, but it’s also great for you.

About EFG:

Their motto: You are what you eat.

A new Eat Fit Go location just opened near our house and we are SO pumped about it. It’s such a great option for those times when we need a good meal in a pinch, or when we are just feeling lazy (because yep, I’m human, and it happens to me too).

Making a decision at Eat Fit Go is always a huge struggle for me haha – too many delicious choices!!!

My husband also has an EFG close to where he works, and it has become one of his go-to places to grab a healthy, quick and affordable lunch during the week (when I fail to pack him a lunch).

Some of our favorite meals at EFG:

I was so excited to team up with Eat Fit Go to pick out my “Perfect Day” of meals and snacks!! And it couldn’t have come at a better time. Ethan was out of town for yet another bachelor party this weekend, and I have been insanely busy running all kinds of errands; helping get ready for my sister-in-law’s baby shower (YAY!), cleaning up our house for a get-together with friends next week, shopping for and putting up allllll the Christmas decorations for our first married Christmas (YAY AGAIN!) and lastly, buying lots of groceries to prepare for our little gathering this week, and for Thanksgiving dinners with the family.

I also went to the Be Well KC event at City Gym on Saturday with a few of my girlfriends. It was so much fun, and we got a seriously bitchin’ workout in! I literally burned 1000+ calories. We got to do TRX, yoga and spin! So obviously we had to #brunch afterwards, because we earned it. 😉 Did any of you other KC peeps go!? We got brunch at the cutest place in Kansas City called The Westside Local. It was my first time and I’m already dying to go back to try their breakfast menu!

This is a prime example of something I’d order while out to eat at a restaurant. It includes whole grains, tons of veggies, and I added grilled salmon for a healthy source of protein. I even boxed half of it up to take home for leftovers. It is totally possible to make healthier choices when you go out to eat; just focus on veggies first!

Since I was occupied with all kinds of stuff this weekend, I really didn’t have any spare time for cooking, plus it’s not quite as fun to cook for yourself! These EFG meals saved me so much time and hassle the past few days, while also providing me some quality nutrition (especially pre- and post-workout) and deliciousness!!

As you will see in my upcoming photos, EFG has small and large options of almost every meal and the nutrition information is posted right on the box to help you make the best choices for you, as well as the ingredients list in case you have any dietary restrictions or allergies. The instructions are on the box as well — these can all be heated up in the microwave in a matter of minutes, and they are seriously so tasty. So much better than what you might expect from a microwaveable meal!

Finally, here are my EFG Perfect Day Picks!

All meal descriptions listed earlier in post.
  • Breakfast: Breakfast Tacos

  • Lunch: Smart Chicken Cauli Rice Bowl

  • Dinner: Holiday Dinner (It’s the week before Thanksgiving; I had to!) — Turkey breast on a bed of roasted garlic potatoes and sweet potatoes with green beans and sugar-free cranberry sauce

  • Snack: Cranberry Balsamic Side Salad

  • Snack #2: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Go-Go Bites

And that’s my Perfect Day at Eat Fit Go!
