what kind of steak is used for kebabs?
You can use a few different options here, but either ribeye or sirloin steak are some of the best options for kebabs. You want to get something a little thicker that won’t cook too quickly.
I used ribeye steak from ALDI in this recipe.
what do you serve with steak kebabs?
These Steak Kebabs include both steak (protein) and peppers, onions and zucchini (veggies), so I personally like to round out the plate with a little bit of carbohydrates, such as these Simply Nature Organic 90 Second Quinoa & Brown Rice pouches! You could also substitute roasted sweet potatoes if you would prefer that.
If you’re looking for more options to make a whole spread, ALDI has you covered! Since kebabs are perfect for cooking in the summertime, AKA grilling season, I think of things like chips & dip (and salsa!), a variety of fresh fruit, and ALDI has a ton of ready-made items like potato salad, pasta salad and more.
Ethan and I usually aren’t big creamy macaroni salad fans, but we LOVED this one by Park Street Deli. Highly recommend! My son Rhett loved it, too. : )
I’m sharing more details on the exact items I grabbed later in this post!
can you cook steak kebabs in the oven?
I would recommend cooking these on the grill for the best flavor. However, if you don’t have a grill (or the weather isn’t cooperating) and need to cook these in the oven instead, no worries.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with foil, spray with nonstick cooking spray, and add prepared skewers. Cook for about 10-13 minutes or until steak reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

easy side dish option from ALDI:
how to make steak kebabs
Wash and dry all produce. Chop up bell peppers and onions into large chunks, and slice zucchini. Transfer to a large bowl.
Chop steak into 1 1/2″ pieces and place in a medium-sized bowl.
Make your steak marinade: combine avocado oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, oregano leaves and salt and pepper in a small bowl. Stir to combine well.
Pour marinade over the top of the cubed steak in the medium bowl; stir well to coat all pieces of steak.
Transfer to a resealable plastic bag or simply cover the bowl, then place in the refrigerator to marinate for about an hour at least.
Toss vegetables in avocado oil, salt and pepper, garlic powder and chili powder until evenly coated. Place in the refrigerator while the steak marinades.
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. (If cooking in the oven, preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.)
After an hour has passed, remove steak and veggies from the refrigerator, and assemble kebabs in this order: 3 slices of bell pepper, 2-3 slices of red onion, 2 slices of zucchini, then a piece of steak. Repeat the process on the kebabs until all pieces are gone.
Add prepared kebabs to the preheated grill and cook for 3-5 minutes per side. Turn to evenly cook, until steak reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. (It should take around 10-14 minutes total.)
Cook Simply Nature Organic 90 Second Quinoa & Brown Rice Pouch according to package instructions.
Serve steak kebabs alongside quinoa & brown rice mixture, and Burman’s Steak Sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
