Best Kansas City Recommendations
I often get questions about where I’d recommend going for “x, y, z”, so I wanted to create this post so you can easily find ALL of the best Kansas City recommendations in one place!
I realize there are TONS of options and places to go for each of these categories, so you might have a different opinion on what is “best”, and that is great! But in this post, I am sharing specifically the places that I use + love + trust for different services, etc.
I want to provide recs on services/places I have actually used and been super happy with! I’m sprinkling in a couple of things that I’ve heard great things about (if they are a FAQ), but will make note if it is something I haven’t tried myself.
I hope this is helpful whether you are visiting KC for a weekend getaway, a Bachelorette party, looking for a new hair stylist or chiropractor, or want the deets on where to get the best margarita in town! I will try to keep adding to this list as I get more commonly asked questions about specific things in KC. 🙂

Physical Therapy:
@doclizziedpt — specializes in postpartum corrective exercise, but can help with allll kinds of things. She has been super helpful for me postpartum with various aches and pains, diastasis recti/pelvic floor work, etc. Her practice is located in Leawood.
Chiropractor:
@drjessbohlke at @journeychirokc — treats pregnant and postpartum women, as well as infants and children! I trusted her all throughout my pregnancy and absolutely loved going. She has also adjusted my baby boy multiple times! Located in Overland Park. PS: she also sees all other humans who need adjustments too! 🙂 Not just pregnant/postpartum.
Hairdresser:
@ameleatherburyhair — I have followed Ame to three different salons because I love her so much. She has been doing my hair since 2018 or ’19? She is AMAZING, especially for blondes and color correction! Highly recommend. Check her out on IG and her scheduling tool with prices is at the link in her bio.
Spray tans:
@recreatingrays – obviously. 😉 I’ve been going to RR since 2018 and I will never go anywhere else for a spray tan. They do an absolutely amazing job EVERY TIME. They make you feel so comfortable. It is absolutely worth the extra money to have someone airbrush you vs. going to a booth. Trust me. You will not be disappointed. They actually guarantee it! They have a location in Olathe and one in the River Market.
OB/GYN + prenatal care
I received all of my pre-pregnancy + pregnancy care and delivered at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. I have several blog posts on this!
nail salon:
@gloss_spa in Lenexa – I love this place! I usually see Max and he is wonderful!
facials/skincare:
@rachelmskincare — Rachel is the BEST, but she also has another esthetician on her team, Shelby, who I’ve heard wonderful things about! I’ve been seeing Rachel since I was engaged way back in 2016, and can’t imagine going anywhere else for regular facials! THINGS TO DO:
I often get questions from people who are coming to KC for a weekend or a Bachelorette party and they want to know what they should do/see while they are here! I’m apparently a bad tour guide, because I always struggle to think of things on the spot, haha! I’ve lived here my whole life, so I guess that’s why! I need to become more of a tourist and check out some new places. ; ) I’ve compiled a small list below for people to refer to, but will add more as I think of them.
- Up Down Arcade – Downtown
- Boulevard Beer Hall

- Farmer’s Markets – River Market, downtown Overland Park
- Bars and restaurants in downtown KC – see this post for more

- Crown Center ice skating around the holidays
places to stay / hotels in kc:
- Marriott Downtown – have stayed here, good experience, reasonably priced
- The Raphael – Plaza – have stayed here, good experience, pretty reasonable, great location within walking distance of plaza
- Crossroads Hotel – great location/view, rooftop bar is fun, more $$ (have not stayed here myself)
- Hotel Phillips – stayed here, good experience, a little more $
